JCB receives large order worth €99 million from farmer

Posted on May 4, 2023May 4, 2023 By Julee Vox

A British farmer has placed an order for machines worth £87 million, equivalent to over €99 million. This marks the largest order ever for JCB in Great Britain.

JCB has closed its largest-ever deal in the UK, thanks to a farmer from Perthshire, a county in Scotland. The major order was placed by Leslie Plant Hire, which is based near Carse of Gowrie and specializes in construction, industrial, and agricultural machinery.

The order consists of 50 JCB 3CX backhoe loaders. Along with the backhoe loaders, Leslie Plant Hire will also receive

  • Loadall telescopic handlers,
  • excavators,
  • site dumpers,
  • and compaction equipment as part of their investment.

XXL company: farmer and company founder

Morris Leslie, a farmer, is the founder of the company. He established the company on his parents’ farm and it now operates throughout the UK. A significant proportion of its clients work in the agricultural sector, particularly in Scotland. Morris Leslie also owns and manages four arable farms spanning 2,000 hectares in Perthshire and Angus. Leslie’s 14 nationwide depots will receive the JCB order by 2023.

The aim of the order is to provide farmers with the latest and best equipment

The farmer stated that his business began on a farm in 1974 and he is proud that farmers and the larger agricultural community still play a crucial role in the company’s success. He added that the purpose of the JCB order was to equip farmers with the latest and best machinery, ensuring that they continue to receive the support they need.
