Hunstanton beach wins national award

Posted on May 14, 2021April 14, 2022 By Julee Vox

As communities and businesses look forward to further easing restrictions on coronavirus next week, a national charity has given another good reason to head to the West Norfolk coast.

That’s because Hunstanton beach has been awarded a Seaside Award by environmental group Keep Britain Tidy.

The award, announced this morning, is one of 132 awarded to beaches across the country.

The scheme recognises high levels of beach management, assessment criteria including the quality of facilities, information and presence of the beach patrol, and environmental management.

West Norfolk Council deputy leader Elizabeth Nockolds said: “We are delighted that Hunstanton will fly the Seaside Award flag again in 2021.

“This nationally recognised award assures visitors that when they come to Hunstanton they will find a clean, safe, attractive and well maintained beach.

“As the country moves into step 3 of the roadmap and opens up even more, it is reassuring for our residents, returning visitors and the many new people who will be coming to enjoy Hunstanton’s beautiful coastline this summer.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone has responsibly spent at the beach.”
